Day 152 - Mime Death and Assassins Understudy

Day 152 VLOG CLICK HERE!

During my run of Forum last summer at Theater Palisades, a few cast mates and myself killed ourselves via mime every night. I compiled a list and want to shoot some of them as a part of our web series. It makes me laugh.

Got an email from the casting director of Assassins today and found out I got the Balladeer understudy. I'll take it. I get one night guaranteed so I can still put it on the resume. Its a small  substitution victory for my senior year of college. Small. But welcome.

Until tomorrow!

Day 151 - Transformers: The Ride and True Blood

Day 151 VLOG CLICK HERE!

Rachel and I made an improptu trip to Universal Studios today because I had the night off and, well, Rachel always has the night off. The new Transformers ride opened on the 25th and I was skeptical. I don't remember the building being very big because it use to house the Backdraft exhibit. The story behind the ride itself takes place somewhere after the second but before the third. You are on board an autobot who is escaping the NEST, the autobot headquarters on earth, after Megatron and other Decepticons attack trying to steal the All Spark. Again. The 3D graphics are sick amazing. You travel from room to room as the battle follows you. You're high, you're low. So many familiar faces make an appearance even Glenn Morshower from the films. He briefs you before your ride. WHAT?! Check it out! But get there early because in these summer months you can expect to wait hours to experience it.

And I got the official call today. I booked a costar on True Blood!  Shoots later this month and doesn't air until the end of the season but stay tuned because I'll have more on that as it develops. Great day!

Until tomorrow!

Day 150 - Assassins Callback

Day 150 VLOG CLICK HERE!

Had my callback for Assassins today. It was unusual because everyone was in the room for the singing and the reading. I did my best to tune it out because I didn't want to mind $%&# myself right before I auditioned. I feel it worked because I was totally at ease when I walked up there. I felt I did very well. I wasn't influenced by anything I heard or saw. I did my own thing. Whether I get it or not is not important. Wait! No it is! I missed the audition for this show my senior year of college and got put in the ensemble. My senior year! Thousands of dollars a year and I'm in the ensemble. I still have issues apparently. Let it go man! Nick Demos, the guest director, bless his heart for putting up with horrid attitude the entire process. I apologized and luckily he cast me his workshop I Want My 80's Musical afterwards and later for the summer season of Lyric Theater in OKC. So hopefully I will book it and I can move on!

Until tomorrow!

Day 149 - Downtown Independent LA Screening of Empire

Day 149 VLOG CLICK HERE!

Went to a mixer at Collin Brazie's (Our DP for Last Call and Empire) new swanky downtown loft before we went to a screening for Empire and Nick Corporon's (our director for both films) new film Barbie Boy as well.

Very interesting to see myself up on the big screen. I look handsome. The response was excellent. I received great feedback from complete strangers which was comforting I guess. I was always a little self conscious about my lip but it doesn't read at all. I think it actually helps the character.

Until tomorrow!

Day 148 - MiB3, More Edit and Muy Infermo

Day 148 VLOG CLICK HERE!

Caught MiB3 this morning. Much, MUCH better than the second and expands on the first.

More polishing for Door.

And Im sick so this is short and to the point.

Until tomorrow!

Day 147 - Further Edit and Panache

Day 147 VLOG CLICK HERE!

Did some more editing today. I'm really getting good at cutting around certain inconsistencies. For example, Wesam didn't have his hands in exactly the same place and fudged it so the viewer wouldn't notice. I'm loving it. I just need to do it with no distractions around so I get more done. I edited while I watched Men in Black one and two. So really I edited all of 20 minutes. Realistically.

I drove to San Pedro to see a couple of ex-castmates from Forum, Kristin Towers-Rowles and Frank Weidner. They were fabulous but totally under used. Not their fault nor the director as the roles were smaller than they deserved. When I found out the leads opposite each other were actually married, it made sense why they were cast together. However, I don't think they took chemistry class together. Cody Lyman as Jumbo was fantastic as well. I look forward KTR's and FW's next endeavor.

Until tomorrow!

Day 145 - Cowboy Callback and Flag Stand Audition

Day 145 VLOG CLICK HERE!

Went to a callback for cowboy audition from yesterday. Went like clockwork like the day before. Walked in, slated, roped a c-stand and was out. Went to the bike and there was another luxury SUV with a handicapped sticker and an unpaid parking meter. When did this become a thing?!

And then jetted over to a print audition.  I had to show I could do a flag stand with is grabbing a pole and holding yourself sideways. Come to think of it I have no idea what I looked like when I did it today. In my mind it looks one way but Im wondering if I didn't look ridiculous. It felt good!

Until tomorrow!

Wednesday, May 23, 2012

Day 144 - Edit, Cowboy Audition and Handicap Spaces

Day 144 VLOG CLICK HERE!

Spent some time editing this morning. I have to say, it is tedious but I do enjoy editing. Who knows? Maybe get a job on the side doing it. Beats slinging pizza.

Went in for one of my favorite casting directors today. Slated, roped a C-stand and was done. Super fast. Did everything I could. All about the look now.

Met a guy after the audition who drove a Lexus SUV who didnt' want to pay for the parking meter so he put a handicap tag on his dash. Mind you he is in the best shape of his life. That's LA.

Until tomorrow!

Day 143 - Charlie Brown, Headshot Rummage and "Door" Edit

Day 143 VLOG CLICK HERE!

Kristin Towers-Rowles comes through again with another potential musical audition for me. This time its for You're a Good Man Charlie Brown.  I submitted so we'll see! I sang Snoopy's and Charlie's songs in college for juries so I'm at least familiar with some of the music. We'll see!

Got rid of a 100 headshots so far. Only 500 to go. Some I've found so far could be potential headshots while other just portfolio.

Wesam and I started editing too. I think we got some great stuff. Realizing a good editor can make or break you. Cut some sound, add some ambient noise, made a beat into an awkward moment. Great stuff!

Until tomorrow!

Day 142 - Audition Help and Headshots by Rachel

Day 142 VLOG CLICK HERE!

A friend of mine got a big last minute audition today and called me to run some lines. I have no idea if he made any calls before my number but I'm still honored he trusted me enough to ask for my advice. For better or worse, I gave my opinion of the scene and his take on it. I think by the time we were finished, we found a great place for the scene. It's all up to him now

Rachel and myself grabbed the camera and attempted to shot some headshots. I have a few looks I need to get for my respective agents/managers. Haven't been through them yet but I hope we get at least one. I'm always so bad at headshots. I think sometimes I'm in the mind set of nothingness. I need to approach these pictures as if I were a character in the photos. Instead, I'm thinking about myself and what I want to eat, the sun hurts my eyes, whats a four letter word for a British lady with a nasty disposition. We got there by the end of the shoot.

Until tomorrow!

Day 141 - Scott David, Scene Sifting and Alien

Day 141 VLOG CLICK HERE!

Ran the workshop for Scott David again today. I anticipated him getting there early and starting which he did by 30 minutes but I was an hour ahead of schedule so we were ready to go! I found a scene from Harry's Law that I really like so I presented it to him today and he actually seemed to agree with my take on it and the strength that I had behind it. It did get a little heated too long but he also said "You seem like you can direct yourself very well." If there's one thing I learned from Howard Fine's class, it's don't bullshit yourself. Just be honest with yourself in the craft. If it was shit, don't tell yourself it was gold. And if it was gold, keep it to yourself. Always good to see him. His office goes back to work end of June. I'll be on the lookout.

Sifted through the scenes today and we've got some great material. I really like what Parker Quinn (Ehret) did as our DP. And luckily we also have a lot of blooper material too. An actual knee to groin shot!

Rewatched Alien (1979) by Ridley Scott in anticipation of Prometheus.  They use that cat a lot to insight fear. Jumping out everywhere! Meowing and hissing! That thing should be grateful to even be alive on a deep space commercial vehicle like the Nostromo! Picked up the directors cut and honestly I couldn't you the difference. But there are moments toward the end where it is completely silent despite what is being shown on the screen. The original tagline for the film read "In space no can hear you scream." Point taken.

Until tomorrow!

Day 140 - Andy Henry, Who's at the Door and Trash Cat in the Hat

Day 140 VLOG CLICK HERE!

Met with Andy Henry this morning. I open the workshop and Aileen took over. I felt I rushed the scene. It might have been better rehearsed if I had found it earlier. He redirected me to make it less is more. That's the Jim Carrey in me. MORE MORE MORE! Never hope more than you work and since my work was minimal on the scene, I won't hope much for an audition. But I will a little.

Today we had our first official shoot to kick off our web series. We did a segment called "Who's at the door?" The first of many. We'll get several in the can before we officially launch that way we have enough material to slowly release a steady stream. Thank you to everyone involved! Especially Kristin Towers-Rowles, Jocelyn Aguilar and Maura Hanlon Smith for the use of their children, relatives and young ones! Way to pimp out your blood! More of the episode later.

And jetted off to a kids party party not ten minutes after we wrapped. I played Cat in the Hat and let me tell you, when you are sweating it is difficult to put water soluble paint on your face. Plus I looked like Trash Cat in the Hat. By the time I was finished, an hour and half later, most of the face had receeded to a small area encircling my eyes nose and upper lip. Man I looked weird. No wonder the kids started to tune out halfway through my magic show. They were thinking "Ah this is bullshit! I can see his pasty skin under this pasty makeup."

Until tomorrow!

Day 139 - Transcription and Buddhism

Day 139 VLOG CLICK HERE!

Seeing Andy Henry tomorrow and is currently casting  a feature.  Got a peak at the breakdown for it and there is a role that fits me and I found the perfect scene from Breakin Bad. Transcribed it along with a scene from Harry's Law (RIP) for Scott David on Sunday.

At work, my last table was a lovely couple who had been friends for 28 years. Eventually, we got to the topic of me being an actor.  Apparently they are both Buddhists and attend a service near the Beverly Center. He asked me if I wanted to play with the big boys, a reference to a conversation we had earlier about my time playing football with seniors much larger than myself. "Big boys" this time was in reference to higher up actors who also attend these meetings and he talks with on a regular basis. I mean, it couldn't hurt checking out a meeting or two. Maybe expand my horizon a little.

Day 138 - On Avail and Military Man

Day 138 VLOG CLICK HERE!

Manager called me early to tell me I was on avail for the commercial I went to the day before. I hadn't had an audition in some time but when I do I make it count.  Fingers crossed.

Had an audition for a military type role today and I was in the waiting room with some real American badass. My partner for the audition was Army Special Forces. I mean unless he lied. He was pretty specific. The devil is in the details I suppose. But the audition went well because we didn't need to do much. Mostly its a look with this one. Do I look badass enough?

Until tomorrow!

Day 137 - Callback and Lighting Design

Day 137 VLOG CLICK HERE!

Callback for this particular project went much the same way. I always have to remember that they called me back for a reason and it will make you made to try to figure out what is was so dont change a thing. I wore exactly the same thing, makeup was identical. Except this time they gave us a line. The director redirected me 6 times, each slightly different that the one before it. I felt great about it.

Shooting our first official skit for out web series on Saturday.  Took some photos and video of the living room with the lighting in place. Should be a great shoot. Super quick. Lots of kids!

Until tomorrow!

Day 136 - Avenue Q Audition and Electronic Stuff

Day 136 VLOG CLICK HERE!

So I will not be performing in Avenue Q this summer as I tanked my audition. I mean Titanic tanked. I hit an off key iceberg right at the beginning. Tried restarting the engines several times and kept hitting it. I slowly sank as the song progressed and when it ended, the panel of judges looked at me and silently thought "Where are the lifeboats?" I then pulled out my metaphoric violin and, along with the piano player, played a slow and torrid melody as Trekkie monster as the bow rose into the air. "Well we have your headshot and resume and we'll call if we need anything else." SNAP! I broke in half leaving one part in the room and the rest slammed back into the reality and I walked into the waiting room and planted on the couch. Like a lone survivor, I sat there and slowly froze to death as I recalled what had just transpired. I saw a fellow musical theater performer and we chatted until she went into the room. "Is Travis Dixon still here?" I hear the room monitor ask.  I say "Yes" and he looks at me and responds with "You know you're done right?" Yes. I know I'm done. And I know you're done with me. Forever.  I slipped out of my life jacket and sunk to the bottom of the icy Pacific aka La Mirada theater scene. R.I.P Travis Dixon 5-15-12.

After gaining a second life, I did some email/Internet correspondence boring stuff. And found out I have a callback for tomorrow for that thing I auditioned for on Monday that I thought auditioned tomorrow. Good think I asked off for work after all.

Until tomorrow!

Day 135 - A Funny Audition, Avenue Q Prep and Round Rock Stumble 2

Day 135 VLOG CLICK HERE!

Received an early morning call from my manager to tell me that the audition I thought was Wednesday was in fact today. Thanks for that! Can you guess the product line?

That's right! Covergirl!

Since I finally got my sides for Avenue Q I learned my parts today for Trekkie, Princeton, Nicky and Rod. More on that tomorrow!

And I was just about to miss my rehearsal for Round Rock when I finally checked my phone to find a text that came in an hour before about the rehearsal parking lot being rented and to park on the street. We ran act 2 twice. Needs to be tightened up but its getting there. Had some fun with the character tonight too. Judge Hogg!

And we had a wounded bird in the back grass area. I hope its okay. Left it some seeds since it is unable to fly. Something pierced it's body just above its wing.  Poor thing.

Until tomorrow!

Day 134 - Spiderman Referral and Rooftop Brainstorm

Day 134 VLOG CLICK HERE!

I had a Spiderman party today for a birthday in Beverly Hills. Aileen Burdock also runs the workshops at Actorswest with me and she referred me to a friend of her in need of my Spidey services. Awesome stuff! Great party and great fun! Thanks Aileen!

And we grabbed some fire logs and matches and had a brainstorming session on the roof patio. Made some lead way on some sketch ideas and even finished a short script. Hopefully we can shoot it on Saturday!

Until tomorrow!

Day 133 - Sarah Katzman and Complex Comedy Private Gig

Day 133 VLOG CLICK HERE!

Met with Sarah Katzman again today.  She  just finished Burt Wonderstone with Steve Carrel and Identity Thief with Jason Bateman. She's super honest but at least she knows exactly what she's thinking and knows how to vocalize it.

Complex Comedy sans Matt (our fearless leader) drove down to Long Beach for a private gig at the Seal Beach Yacht Club. We performed as part of a fundraiser for a girls youth basketball team. Our contact was slightly drunk when we arrived as were some of the other parents. The show went excellent except that we had to start an hour behind schedule. No bother. Wesam even went to be our videographer.

One of the gents, the General as he was called, was a tough cookie. We put him in a game called Make Me Laugh in which he had to remain as stoic as possible. No smiles. No laughing. He was tough. But Sigmund Freud psychoanalysis made him crack. Then he grabbed me and tried to spank me I think!

Day 132 - Late Night Brainstorming Session In A.....Ba

Day 132 VLOG CLICK HERE!

Wesam and I had an idea about revamping Dropped Call and using Joe and Ricks bar as the new location. I guess Wesam thought it would be a great idea to go to their bar and discuss our ideas over drinks and pool and beer pong.  Six drinks in and it was all about girls, getting laid and other non sequitur topics. Needless to say, not much got accomplished except getting on our way to a massive hangover. And I'm there. Now. Need water.

Until tomorrow!

Day 131 - Return to CPK and Manny Fernandez

Day 131 VLOG CLICK HERE!

My first shift at CPK since being back in town. My talents are being wasted. At no point in my career do I feel lower. When I first started working there I looked at it as a way to work on character development. Each table would get a different characteristic; southern accent, slight lisp, maybe a limp. Now, I struggle to get from table to table without choking my next customer.  And I do it all with a smile.

Manny Fernandez was on the workshop schedule tonight. He cast the new pilot "Perception" for TNT starting in July. He's a great guy! Very personable. Oh and Aileen Burdock was in class and she was not on at all. Give it up. *wink wink*

Until tomorrow!

Day 130 - Brainstorm, Minor Remodeling and Round Rock Stumble

Day 130 VLOG CLICK HERE!

Wesam and I brainstormed a little today about what we can do next for ourselves. While auditions are few and far between for me I need something to do to keep growing.

Changed the door seal on the bottom of the front entrance. Did you want to know that information? How does this work in my favor? I did a man thing.

And we had our first stumble through of Round Rock but stumble it was! I found out yesterday I was in a scene I had never blocked. And can I say, Aaron Kozak, what a phenomenal job you have done with this script. Big things for him are around the corner.

Until tomorrow!

Day 129 - Penny Screen Test, Emails and Jennifer Lare

Day 129 VLOG CLICK HERE!

Penny wants to be a star but she needs some help sometimes. Thats where the green screen suit comes in. Still needs some tweaking but my skills on FCP are getting more useful every day.

Had to send a lot of emails today; agents, managers, jobs, friends as to get back on the same page with everyone.

Met with Jennifer Lare again tonight. She's one of the easier CD's in the way she controls her room. She's very laid back and give constructive criticism. She was impressed with our scene from Parenthood. She didn't even redirect. Nice work!

Until tomorrow!

Day 128 - There's No Place Like Home

Day 128 VLOG CLICK HERE!

Flight back to civilization was perfect. Oh except at the US Airways there wasn't enough employees to run both the front check in desk and the kiosk in the terminal so we were all confused as to where our gate was located. Oh and I had to check my carry on bag because the plane out of Grand Junction is a tube with pipe cleaner for a prop. And our connecting flight had every screaming baby in Phoenix headed for LA.

But I made it home! First stop DENNYS!

Second stop, Sexy town.

Third stop, Coitusville

Fourth stop, Sleepyton

And I wrote my managers and agent to remind them I was back in town and ready to work! Seriously, time to get new headshots. Update reels and resumes! Reconnect!

Until tomorrow!

Day 127 - Forever Plaid Forever Done, Miss Saigon Attempt and Monumental After Party

Day 127 VLOG CLICK HERE!

Forever Plaid is done! The show was fantastic. Our best yet! During Frankie's speech however there was an old woman on the phone saying "I'm going to need a ride!"  Coincidently, it was when Frankie was talking about silence. "Quality silence!" Frankie punched as she continued to speak loudly. I had to hold it together.  I really pushed out my notes today because, hey, its the last show! Damn reflection.

After the show we, The Plaids, auditioned for Miss Saigon. I've wanted to Chris for a long time but it may just be out of my range. It sits on a G in some places and thats just below my threshold. But I still have it but I wonder for HOW LONG?

And we had one final get together, cast and crew! Much love to the group. With every production there is usually one bad egg but with this group every one came together to coexist in harmony. Sure, we had challenges but we had each other's backs. I will miss them. Jason goes back to the Big Apple, John heads off to RI to do another Plaid and Kurtis and I head back to LA.  In this business, chances are I'll see them again.

Fire pit. WHAT!?

Until tomorrow!

Day 126 - Downtown Grand Junction, The Monument and Show Number 2

Day 126 VLOG CLICK HERE!

So what do I do with my parents in the biggest town in western Colorado? Well, we go downtown to the Cinco de Mayo festival of course! And what a festival it was! We walked by a half dozen tents, the most interesting one selling kettle corn. You round the corner and to find another half dozen food stands. All with a live recorded band playing festive mariachi tunes. We grabbed a bite but not before my mom pretended to see Truman's penis in the tub. At least, I think its Truman.

We to the monument second and drove Mountain rd all the way to Fruita. My mom kept freaking out at the sight of the canyon drop not 10 feet from the side of the road. But when we stopped the sights were amazing!

Second show tonight!! Getting better with every show. Parents were in the front row.  I have a line where I directly ask someone in the audience "What year is it?" That person for this show was my mother. Her answer "1964?" What? My dad chimed in with the correct answer "2012." During the "Heart and Soul" number we invite someone to come to the stage to play the piano with me and of course Frankie picked my mum. I could hear her sniffling as she approached me in anticipation of playing together. Then I started getting sentimental. Dang it! I cant sing when Im crying! All in all, a much better show for myself.

Also someone pooped outside out dressing room. Perhaps they didn't like the show. Or maybe it was just Cinco de Mayo tequila shits.

Until tomorrow!

Day 125 - THE AVENGERS, Opening Night and After Party

Day 125 VLOG CLICK HERE!

The Avengers! Go see it! Marvel has done a fantastic job of slowly setting up this movie with Iron Man, Hulk, Thor movies etc. I had forgotten that Hawkeye was in Thor. He's uncredited but he has Thor in sights during the fight in the rain sequence. Pretty cool. As for the movie itself, WOW! It has everything and I mean everything. You won't be disappointed and be sure to wait the extra 3 minutes at the end because after the credits is some footage you don't want to miss. So %$#@ing incredible.

Had a fantastic opening night. Crowd was small but mighty! I dropped a line but Frankie covered nicely. I really enjoy this show and there was a moment but I said "yes" that I thought this show was above me as in I didn't I was capable of doing it. No nerves tonight. I felt solid on the ground. Now I can't wait to do it again and hate that is only 3 shows. My other Plaids may be glad to move onto other projects but I feel I could use another week or two. Really find those moments that I know a month down the road are going to hit me with a genius idea. I should have do it THAT WAY!!

Parents go into town as well. Met them briefly at the hotel to say hello. I miss them. My day is sporting a bushy goatee. What?

And then made my way over to 323 on ROOD. Yes, thats the bar where I had 4 double whiskey on the rocks. And no I didnt make that mistake again.  I'll have a sprite on the rocks please. Yet somehow a delicious, amber colored beverage made its way into my hand. Two in fact. No as to whether they were drank by me is of no concern but know I wasn't going to repeat last week in any form. But thank you Theron just the same.

Kurtis pissed himself. Dork. He has a what is referred to as a hypospadias. Poor guy.

These guys are great. Awesome job tonight, Kurtis, Jason, John, Nick, Terri, Jerry, Nina, Bob and Adam. I know I left a few out. Let's do it again.....two more times. And then thats it.

Until tomorrow!

Day 124 - Promo for KKCO, Promo for Donors and Final Dress

Day 124 VLOG CLICK HERE!

Damn Grand Junction roads. We had a noon appointment at KKCO Channel 11 and every road we took was either dead end or detoured! But we made it and we did it and it's done.

Had a short.....short break and then did a promo for several donors of the theater. They attended a short presentation about the theaters multi-million dollar renovation.

And finally had our first and only full dress run through if you don't count opening night. I know where I need to focus which is basically every thing after Lady of Spain.  The show is going to be great. I'm stoked my parents get to see it twice. I leave for CO in the morning and are braving the 14 hour drive from Sand Springs, OK.

Until tomorrow!

Day 123 - Channel 5 Promo and Tech Run Through

Day 123 VLOG CLICK HERE!

We did a promo for Channel 5 this morning. Here's the link to the entire thing.
Forever Plaid on Channel 5
I opted to do a different song because, frankly, WE SICK OF SICKING THE SAME SONG! No, we had no time.

And we finally got on the Avalon stage tonight for a tech run. Stop and go with lights and sound but mostly go. The show it's self is pretty easy. No big, elaborate lighting cues or set pieces. The props are the confusing part and mostly in one number, Lady of Spain. I go from The Lady herself, to a barking seal, dog trainer, plate spinner, ballerino, opera singer, ventriloquist, Jose' Jimenez and finally a fire inspector. Fun stuff!

Until tomorrow!

Day 122 - Promo for WCCF (WTF), BIG LOU Radio Interview and Rehearsal with the Band

Day 122 VLOG CLICK HERE!

Promo went well this morning. I'm not even sure what WCCF stands for but we actually got to step foot on the stage to perform. However, the group was having a luncheon on most of it so we sang off to the side. Get the hell off our stage! At least they fed us. Will sing for food.

Big Lou was more like Tall Lou. The radio interview was prerecorded for tomorrow's broadcast. Again we didn't really have any info other than the phone number and website for tickets. We did Mercury and hopefully they only use the last part. Not for me of course because I was spot on off key. I mean.....

Had the band tonight! Well the piano, bass and the drums. Ran it twice, off and on its feet. Felt great. Words and notes are starting stick. Three days until go time.

Until tomorrow!

Day 121 - Road Trip, Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park and Hot Springs

Day 121 VLOG CLICK HERE!

Took a little road trip on our second day off to Glenwood Springs where is a natural hot spring. And by natural I mean it's been covered by concrete and commercialized. But first the scenery . This is the third time I've driven through (or been driven through) Colorado and its just stunning to see the landscape. I remember the first video I did with Rachel where I am just crying at the mountains and the trees and with every turn its get more breath taking. Finally, Rachel tells me to stop being such a pussy. But seriously, it's pretty freakin amazing. I'm sure if I lived here, I'd probably sound something like "Yeah so what? Who gives a flying $#@%. They're mountains." But since I dont! Wow-za!!

Our first stop was Subway. Lunch!

Secondly we went over to the hot springs, checked out it and decided to come back because we first wanted to go to.....dun dun dun......Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park. Although it might be misnamed. We take a 8 minute gondola ride to the top and with every vertical foot we ascend the snow covered mountains in the distance begin to rise into view. Stunning. We get to the top and step off into a cloud of construction dust. Apparently this is their spring season when not much is even open. Add in all the renovations they are doing and the place looks like a ghost town. Construction tape, closed attractions, gravel everywhere and not a soul in sight except for the occasional family that looked at you like you were about to steal their child was all that was up on the hilltop. There was a nice observation deck with a view of the entire valley. And a big chair.

There was one ride that was open that had some promise and that was the Alpine Coaster, a mile long one to two manned self controlled roller coaster. It was an awkward way to sit because you controlled the brakes and to do so you had to hold the handles forward which meant you must lean nearly out of your seat. I have short arms, maybe its just me. The operator kept saying its attached to the track so when he started me off I planned to shoot to the bottom, break free. And boy was I in for a ride. I was so freaking afraid I was going to fly off but "its attached, its attached, its attached" kept ringing in my head. Left, right, left, right, shooting down the mountain. I kept passing signs that said "dont brake" so when I finally was supposed to brake to ignored the signs thinking they said the same thing but now they said "Break now." Yeah I ignored it until I was braked by the track itself. I nearly lost a lung. From there you just have to sit back and let the track pull you up a 35 degree incline back to the top.

The cave tour sounded interesting until they said it was a 70 minute walking tour. Nope.

Finally, back to the hot springs where the water was a cool 93 degrees and the therapy pool was a 104. Oh boy. It felt good. The water was a little salty but boy did it make my joints my great. My jerking elbow feels great.

Even had a diving board which I haven't done since the summer of '05. I was a Kimilia's house (a friends I had met while working summer stock for Lyric theater in OKC) and I went for an epic jack knife and the rusted bolts decided to give away. The diving board flipped end over end as I disappeared under water and landed in the shallow end of the pool.  Well everyone had a good laugh but I had self image problems every since. "You broke the diving board fatty" I heard people say....in my head. Enough about that.

Anyway, I can still flip like I'm 175 lbs. Front, back, twists. All still there.

Road trip back. Thank you David Bowie. HAHAHHAAGG!

Until tomorrow!
